We spent two years researching future needs for data capacity,
and learned that today’s infrastructure is not suited for tomorrow’s demand
So we designed this.
Energy reduction
Traditional data centers use up to 40% of the total power consumption for cooling.
By using the ocean as a natural resource for cooling, we will manage to reduce the consumption. Since 70% of the world’s electricity supply is still from fossil fuel, this reduction will have a major impact on the global CO2 emissions.
Space efficiency
Decreasing empty space usage frees up valuable real estate. Compared to hyperscale data centers, Orca Connex solution is many times more space efficient with the same power capacity.
Worldwide transfer of data within 6 months
Relocating data is extremely time-consuming with today’s infrastructure and solutions. Transfering 1 exabyte by using a 10 Gbps pipeline can take up to 26 years. Our target scope is to transfer 1 exabyte of data in less than 6 months – wordwide.
Reduce failure rate
Placing servers in an optimized environment is key to minimize failure rate, thus providing a realiable storage solution. On an equal lifetime there are eight servers that fail in traditional data centers, versus only one server in Orca Connex solution. With a global raw material and semiconductor shortage, such a reduction will help save the environment and have an major impact on cost.
We use zero liters of freshwater
Orca Connex solution utilizes the worlds’s largest refrigerant; the ocean.
On average, traditional data centers use up to 23 million liters a day for cooling and electricity generation. Annually, this accounts for 650 billion liters in the US alone. With water scarcity and lack of access to safe water for 771 million people around the world, reduction in water consumption is lifesaving.
Security as a standard
We meet the same security level as any other traditional data center. Orca Connex solution is inaccessible for the public and has less environmental disturbance from it’s surroundings, optimized conditions for safe operation. Floods and extreme weather which are a threat to land-based facilities, are threats we avoid. We minimize the risk of fire and facilitate so that duplication units can be placed worldwide.
Data flexibility
With today’s demand it’s difficult for existing operators to time the market. The establishment period is long, it’s difficult to find a suitable area, and they are often located far from where data is generated. About half of the world’s population lives within 100 km of the sea. Orca Connex makes it easy to make the data available where people live, scale up to meet the need and easy to move to new markets.

Less than 50 days deployment
Deploy data storage container unit with less than 50 days from customer request to fully operational. To meet the growing demand for data resources, fast and cost-efficient deployment is cruical.
